The new airport terminal in Alicante is opened

At the beginning of the new millennium, as the aviation authorities saw a rising trend in passengers to Alicante airport. In 2004 it was decided the airport should be expanded with a second terminal. This terminal was opened yesterday.

The opening of the new terminal is very convenient for passengers in Alicante. When the original airport was built to serve 8 million passengers a year. 2010 saw almost 10 million passengers in Alicante. Furthermore, it should be noted that the Alicante airport hardly is used as a transit airport, but is primarily for direct flights.

With the expansion of the new terminal, the airport is ready to handle up to 20 million passengers a year.
