Surrounding area
Guardamar del Segura is renowned for its fine sandy beaches. It has a long high street with many different shops, as well as a market every Wednesday morning.
The marina, which is a few minutes away from the town, is the start of the Corridor Verde. Corridor Verde is a walking and cycling route, which follows the river “Rio Segura”. In Guardamar you will also find two wonderful parks, the Alfonso and the Renia Sofia. The pine tress and sand dunes of the Alfonso Park connects the town to the marina and provides a nice and level walking and cycling route.
Guardamar is very well know considering its small size. This is because people have been living in the Guardamar area since 8th century BC. One of the major attractions, besides the 11km of beautiful and sandy beaches, is the Guardamar castle, which was build around the 12th century.
