Orihuela Costa officially a touristic city
Everyone who has visited Costa Blanca, Costa Calida and Costa del Sol, knows that these coast lines are very popular among tourists, so why is this status important for Orihuela Costa?
In the Region of Valencia (Communitat Valenciana) it has now been possible for most shops to open on sundays, besides summer, christmas and special holidays. That means that many tourists have had to drive and look carefully for shops to be open on sundays. With the new status as touristic city, all shops in Orihuela Costa, can now open their doors un sundays. This means that the very popular Zenia Boulevard, commercial center, can now open its doors on sundays. In theory the change can happen from October, where it is expected that Zenia Boulevard will remain open all week.
Since the biggest commercial center in the Alicante opened its doors, almost a year ago, the competitor Habaneras in Torrevieja, has been struggling to keep up with Zenia Boulevard. The new status for Orihuela Costa, has lead to an application from Torrevieja to get the same status as Orihuela Costa.
