What is the golf course at La Finca like?
La Finca Golf is the reason the resort exists, and it is a serious course rather than a resort add-on. It is an 18-hole, par 72 layout designed by the Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo and opened in 2002, measuring a little over 6,300 metres from the back tees.
Gancedo was known for artistic green shapes and clever bunkering, and you see it here. The fairways are wide and generous, so most handicaps can take the driver out, but the approaches and greens are where the round is won or lost. Green sizes vary hugely, from very large to very small.
Water is part of the character. The 5th and 6th holes bring in lakes and waterfalls, the 7th has a square green with an enormous bunker beside it, and the 14th sits in a deep bowl ringed by olive trees. For the 2026 season, tee shots and bunkering on holes 2 and 11 were reworked by the architect Tim Lobb.
Practice facilities include a driving range, putting and chipping areas and a practice bunker, with a golf academy, pro shop, buggy hire and a clubhouse restaurant. La Finca is now managed together with Villamartín Golf, so members and guests can play more than one course under the same roof.
Where is La Finca Golf?
La Finca Golf sits on the road between Algorfa and Los Montesinos, in the Vega Baja countryside of southern Alicante province. It is inland rather than coastal, surrounded by orange and lemon groves, with hills behind and views towards the sea and the Torrevieja salt lakes.
Algorfa village is a few minutes away by car. It is a small working town of around 4,000 people with supermarkets, pharmacies, bars, a church and a weekly street market, and it has kept a good deal of its Spanish character.
The AP-7 motorway is close, which is what makes the location work. Ciudad Quesada and Benijofar are a short drive for shops and restaurants, Almoradi has a large Saturday market, and the beaches of Guardamar and Torrevieja are a straightforward run down the road.
What is it like to live on La Finca Golf?
Quiet, green and low rise. The resort is spread out, with villas and apartment blocks set among the fairways, mature planting and shared pools. Streets are wide and there is plenty of parking, which is not always true nearer the coast.
It is not a place with a village centre of its own, so most residents drive for a full shop. What you do have on the doorstep is unusual for the area: a five-star hotel and spa, several restaurants, a gym and sports centre, tennis and padel courts, all open to residents as well as hotel guests.
Life here is calm out of season and busier in spring and autumn, when the golf visitors arrive. If you want bars and nightlife within walking distance, this is the wrong place. If you want birdsong, dark skies and a tee time ten minutes from your front door, it fits well.
Practical things
- Health centre in Algorfa, with larger hospitals in Torrevieja and Orihuela within about half an hour.
- Local Spanish state schools in the surrounding villages; international schools are a drive towards the coast.
- Good cycling and walking on the country lanes through the citrus groves.

At the time of writing (September 2026), our own listings give a clear picture. Prices start at about €160,000 and reach €2 million, with a typical asking price around €590,000 because villas dominate the market here.
- Apartments and bungalows: typically around €320,000 to €340,000, with entry-level resales lower.
- Detached villas: typically around €630,000, with most falling between €450,000 and €800,000.

Around seven in ten homes we list here are new build, and more than eight in ten have a pool, private or communal. Three bedrooms is the norm, and a common built size is about 120 m², though villas often run much larger.
On buying costs: resale purchases in the Valencian Community carry 9% transfer tax (ITP), rising to 11% on the portion above €1 million from 1 June 2026. New build is 10% IVA plus 1.4% stamp duty (AJD). Resort homes also carry community fees, so ask for the figure before you offer.
How far is La Finca Golf from the beach and the airport?
The nearest beaches are at Guardamar del Segura and La Mata, roughly 15 to 25 minutes by car depending on traffic and which stretch of sand you prefer. Torrevieja marina and the beaches of Orihuela Costa are around half an hour.
Alicante-Elche airport (ALC) is about 32 km in a straight line, which is roughly 35 to 45 minutes by car on the motorway. Región de Murcia airport at Corvera (RMU) is about 41 km away, or 40 to 50 minutes by road.
For golfers, the choice nearby is strong. Vistabella Golf is only a few minutes away, La Marquesa at Ciudad Quesada is about ten minutes, and Villamartín, Campoamor and Las Colinas are all within a 20 to 25 minute drive.
Who buys at La Finca Golf, and does it rent out well?
Buyers here tend to be golfers and second-home owners who want space and quiet rather than a seafront apartment. We see British, Scandinavian, Belgian, Dutch, German and Polish buyers, along with Spanish families from Murcia and Alicante. Many are retired or semi-retired; some are younger families buying a villa with a pool.
For letting, the golf calendar helps. Demand is steady in spring and autumn as well as summer, and a home near the course with a pool and air conditioning usually performs better than the same home inland with neither. A car is essential for guests, so mention that in your listing.
Be realistic about winter: the resort is peaceful from December to February, which suits owners who live here and is quieter for short lets. Check the community rules and register for a tourist licence before you advertise.
If you would like help comparing homes here with nearby Los Montesinos or the coast, the homes above are a good place to start, or call in to our office in Cabo Roig for a chat.
Frequently asked questions
Do homeowners at La Finca Golf get discounted green fees or membership?
The club offers memberships and resident rates, and these change from season to season. Ask us or the club directly for the current terms before you buy.
Are there community fees on the resort?
Yes, most homes belong to a community that maintains gardens, pools and street lighting. Fees vary a lot between developments, so we always confirm the exact annual figure for each property.
Is La Finca Golf a good place to live all year round?
Many owners live here permanently and find it comfortable, with mild winters and good road links. It is quiet in winter, so if you want a busy social scene you may prefer somewhere closer to the coast.
Can I get by without a car?
Not really. Algorfa village is a short drive and public transport is limited, so almost every resident here drives.
Is there anything for non-golfers?
Yes. The resort has a spa, gym, tennis and padel courts and restaurants, and the surrounding countryside is popular for walking and cycling.
How long does a purchase usually take?
A resale with no mortgage can complete in around six to eight weeks. New build depends on the construction stage, and off-plan homes can take a year or more.
